Last week, the main loading dock at the Comfort Food Community (CFC) Food & Farm Hub got an upgrade! The dock was re-paved and expanded to allow for higher functionality and increased safety as we receive and distribute food in service of our communities.
The new dock allows for two, side-by-side loading spaces: one to accommodate large box trucks, and one to accommodate smaller vans like those used for our Food Recovery and Community Health programs. This will save time and reduce the amount of staff and volunteer labor required for these tasks!
Additionally, the new dock includes a large outdoor space where staff and volunteers will be able to wash totes and other equipment used for transporting food. Overall, this is a huge upgrade for the Food & Farm Hub that will help us meet the increasing demands for our food access programs.
We would like to extend our gratitude to The Marilyn Lichtman Foundation for their generous support in making this upgrade possible. Their contribution will enable us to deepen our impact and more efficiently serve our communities.
This upgrade is a step forward for CFC as we continue our mission to nourish our neighbors in need and lead the community to end rural hunger!
