Celeriac Mash

About the Recipe

A delicious and healthy alternative to mashed potatoes.


  • 2 pounds celeriac

  • 2 shallots

  • 6 cloves garlic

  • Broth, chick or veg

  • ½ cup milk

  • 2 tablespoon butter

  • salt and pepper to taste


  1. Peel and cube celeriac. Add to pot with shallots, and garlic cloves and cover with broth.

  2. Bring to a boil over high heat, cover, reduce to low and cook for 20 minutes until celeriac is tender. Drain 2/3 of the broth and add milk and butter. 

  3. Cook for 2-3 minutes over medium heat, stirring well, until the butter is melted, and the milk is warmed.

  4. Add salt and pepper. Mash with a potato masher or blender.
